Fraudulent/Scam Emails
Fraudulent emails are nothing new, but unlike the early 2000s when they appeared in the form of a "Rich Nigerian Prince needs you to transfer funds", they have evolved. Over time fraudulent emails have become much more sophisticated. Most often, these emails appear to be sent from a trustworthy company or person that contains malicious links, requests for information, or harmful attachments.
The goal of these emails is to gather any personal information they can get. You may be prompted to enter billing information to receive funds or prompt you to download a file that will install malware on the computer. Many emails will pose as a contact you frequently communicate with, its important to always be cautious.
Remember, if an email seems suspicious, do not reply to the sender and do not click on any links or attachments within the message.

What is Email Spoofing and What can I do About it?
Have you received an email from your friends, family, or even yourself but from a completely different Email address? This is another form of fraud that has spread through the internet called Email Spoofing. The malicious sender changes the "From" field in the Email to a name you will recognize, in order to trick you into opening the email. In these cases, the Sender can add a familiar name to the "From" field but the return address is completely different. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done in regards to this Spam. You have to be very careful when opening your Emails and always check the Email address in the "From" line not just the name. You can also filter your Emails to look for the email address and send Emails it dose not recognize into a separate folder. That way only email address you recognize will be sent to your inbox.
Spam Emails
